Southern Setting

To the south of the town the land slopes up from the broad valley floor to a ridge line that forms its southern boundary and from which views of the town can be seen. Beyond this natural boundary are large open arable fields with low hedgerows and some wooded areas. The southwestern edge of the town is the low-lying open landscape and flood plain of the River Test as it leaves the parish.
